How to work with the Moon
One of the main aspects of following the "Wiccan Way" (or any Pagan Path) is a close affinity with Our Lady, more specifically , The Aspects of the Lunar Calender.
As you work slowly along your chosen Path, you will invariably get to the point when you need to work with the moons' cycle. Here it becomes a little tricky...what spell to use, when to cast your Circle(s), when to use "Negative" or "Positive" Magickal Workings.
Before anyone gets all stressed and outraged at my apparent endorsement of "Negative" magick...let me explain!!
There are times when you WILL need to work in a "Negative" manner, for instance..when you want to reduce someones' fear of something, when you may want to attempt to reduce a medical ailment (i.e. somebodies acne, warts migraines, tumours etc etc) "Negative does not ALWAYS equal "Black" or "Satanic" or "Evil"...it can be seen as "reducing".
There are four cycles of the moon, Waxing, Waning, Full and Dark
Two are easy to recognise...Full Moon and Dark Moon, we have been looking at and recognising these since we lay in our cradles as infants. A little harder is recognising the Waxing(Growing) and Waning( Shrinking) moon.
Here is a really easy way to remember...
Positive Magick works best with a Waxing Moon
Positive Magickal Working is seen as being on "The Right-Hand Path", therefore, if you can cup the "Part Moon" in your right hand it is growing larger...or in other words, it is Waxing, becoming more "positive"

Negative Magickal Working is seen as being on "The Left-Hand Path", therefore, if you can cup the "Part Moon" in your left hand it is growing smaller...or in other words, it is Waning, becoming more "negative" **********
It won't take long before you can just glance at the heavens and instantly know what "Magickal Time" of the month it is. But in the beginning, if like I did, you struggle to recognise the moon phases, this little "Witch Tip" will surely help you
