The Pagan Deck

When I look at the "ACE", it reminds me that there is but one Goddess, although Her names are many;

And the "TWO" reminds me that there are two Paths, the Left-Hand Path and the Right-Hand Path, and that I must always be sure where I am placing my feet as I walk the Ways of the Wise;

And when I see the "THREE", I think of the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, each aspect of the Goddess loved and revered for Their own special qualities;

And when I see the "FOUR", I think of my four Sentinels, who are Auriel, Gabriel, Michael and Raphael and guard my Quarters during Ritual;

And when I see the "FIVE", it reminds me of the five points of the Witches Star, one each for Earth, Air, Fire and Water, and the final top point symbolising Spirit;

The "SIX", reminds me of my beginnings in High Magic and of the Seals of Solomon;

When I see the "SEVEN", it reminds me of the Chakras...often overlooked in today's headlong rush to become a witch. Proper control over these "gateways" is vital for your own peace of mind and safety during any Magickal Workings;

And when I see the "EIGHT", I think of the eight Sabbats of the Pagan Year, the four Major Sabbats and the four Minor Sabbats;

And when I see the "NINE", I think of the nine million of our Brothers and Sisters who perished during the "Burning Times" and give thanks that I am relatively free to practice my worship of the Goddess, when so many fell before the onslaught of ignorance.

When I see the "TEN", I think of the Ten Sephorith of the Caballa.The Tree of Life. To understand the hidden secrets of this tome is truly a lifetime of study;

And the "KNAVE" is the High Priest, high ranking but aware that there is still further to climb;

And when I see the "QUEEN", I think of the High Priestess, who is the Goddess in Human Form;

When I see the "KING", it reminds me of the God, the trusted Consort of the Goddess;

When I count the number of spots on a deck of cards,
I find 365, just about the number of years we suffered persecution at the hands of those claiming Religious Morality. ;

There's 52 cards, the number of weeks in a year;

There are 4 suits, the number of phases of the moon, waxing, waning, dark and new in a month;

There's 12 picture cards, the ideal number of paired members in a coven, 6 males, and 6 females..;

There's 13 cards in a suit, the number of Esbats in a year;
